Elm Pack Visit the Mayor
In March, Elm pack cubs met at Reigate and Banstead Town Hall to meet the Mayor, Cllr. Mrs Dorothy Ross-Tomlin. They were welcomed and told some of the history of the building. The cubs were shown the part of the building with a lookout tower on top and learned that it was once the town fire station. They also learned that part of the building used to be the police station and were taken into the cells in the basement.
The cubs were privileged to be invited into the council chamber where they were able to watch the beginning of a council meeting, before being taken along to the Mayor’s parlour. There the cubs were told about the role of the Mayor and shown the mace and her official robe and were able to ask questions.
The cubs were given a sticker and leaflet about the town hall as a souvenir of their visit.
