Banstead District Remembers

Date: 12th Nov 2020 Author: Alistair Tickett

Banstead District commemorated the fallen this Armistice Day by painting stones and tiles with Poppies and laying them on the War Graves and War Memorials. Due to this year being very different to the last 100 years of commemoration, we felt it was more important now more than ever to do something to show our respects. We would like to thank the following churches for allowing us to create these displays, St Peter’s Walton on the Hill, All Saints Banstead, St Peter’s Woodmansterne and St Margaret’s Chipstead.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
