7th Banstead Cub Communicators

Date: 25th Mar 2018 Author: Scout Websites

This term, the 7th Banstead Cub Pack have been working on the Communicator badge. The Cubs have been extremely busy – they have deciphered secret messages using code wheels and received messaged via Morse code. The cubs have also learned how to write emails, make phone calls, and most importantly, how to communicate and give instructions efficiently as part of a team.
To finish the badge, 7th had a special visit from Janet and her 9 month guide dog in training, Iris. Janet talked to the Cubs about the importance of guide dogs, and the way in which they are trained.  Janet also introduced the Cubs to braille as an alternative method of communication. The Cubs were shown different items that use braille and were particularly fascinated by a book in braille with ‘no words’.
Throughout the evening, the Cubs really impressed the leaders and Janet, demonstrating fantastic listening skills and asking brilliant questions.
Overall, we have had a brilliant term and are really looking forward to completing the next badge!
