3rd Banstead Group Camp 2019

Date: 31st Mar 2019 Author: Alistair Tickett

Over a weekend at the end of March, Broadstone Warren Scout and Activity Centre near Forest Row was the site for 3rd Banstead’s first Group Camp.  The camp brought together 70 youth members and over 20 adult leaders and supporter for the weekend.

The Beavers and Cubs stayed in the sites indoor accommodation, with the hardy Scouts camping out for the weekend.

The beavers took part in a range of activities including low ropes, tunnelling, archery, traverse wall, fire lighting, cooking and a welly walk.  The cubs took part in grass sledging, tunnelling, peddle karts, traverse wall, high ropes, fire lighting, cooking and orienteering. The scouts took part in the most adventurous activities including high ropes, carte stacking, zip wire, angel throwing, grass sledging and fire lighting.

Saturday night saw the opportunity to bring the whole Group together for a camp fire attended by all sections, and opportunities throughout the weekend for our members to see what other sections get up to.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
