Banstead District Scouting have been fortunate to secure funding to support not only the modernisation of our Camp Site but only in assisting with the costs of the Covid 19 crisis.

We have recently been awarded a grant of some £1000 from Reigate and Banstead Borough Council Small Grant scheme which was supported by our local councillor Sam Walsh. Councillor Walsh has been a long standing supporter of scouting in the Banstead area. The grant will enable us to carry out a much needed upgrade our hot water system to the food preparation areas which in turn will enable a far greater level of hygiene in these areas.

In addition we have secured funds of £500 from SES Water to enable us to fit self closing taps to our wash rooms. This will both reduce our use of water but also reduce our carbon footprint in the use of hot water.

We have recently been donated security equipment by Burgwachter which will enable us to make our site more secure in the future.

Our upgrade fundraising over the past 2 years began with various grants. These have come from our County Councillor, Ken Gulati, from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, the Henry Jessop Foundation and one from Tesco Bags for Life scheme.

These funds and also the possibility of further grants from companies and organisations will hopefully enable us to finish our upgrades and be in a position to restart scouting on a site fit for purpose in 2021 onwards.

We thank all the companies and our local representatives for their continued support in our work.
