We want to help everyone access practical Scouting whether it be funds for a specific activity or by providing a portable ramp to help with wheelchair access to the HQ.

You can apply for a grant as an individual or as a Group to help with a specific need which has arisen.

Scouting is a very active movement: the more adventurous, the better!  Sometimes though, people need a helping hand to achieve their goals.  Sophie’s Fund wants to help people to get the most from their weekly meetings as well as ‘bigger’ activities such as:

· Camping

· Archery

· Hiking

· Climbing

· Shooting

· Abseiling

· Sailing

· Overseas expeditions

Text Box: Sophie was an avid member of the Scouts, who enthusiastically took part in all the varied activities available.

Text Box: Sophie was an avid member of the Scouts, who enthusiastically took part in all the varied activities available. She sadly died of a brain tumour in February 2007.

Shortly before her diagnosis she was thrilled to be selected as part of the Surrey Contingent at the 2007 Centenary World Scout Jamboree.

As the illness progressed the contingent leaders were proactive in making all the necessary arrangements for her to still attend the event, despite her disabilities, and it was the efforts shown by these people that made me realise how important it is to enable as many young people as possible to take part in all that the Scouting Association has to offer.

This fund has been established for the purpose of supporting young people, who, for various reasons, may not be able to fully participate in scouting activities.  This includes purchasing specialist equipment to enable equal access to scouting activities.

I know that this would have been one of Sophie's wishes as well.
