Banstead Challenge Re-launched

 

After many years, the Banstead District Challenge was back - and with vengeance!  Teams from the various Groups were made up of 3 Beavers, 3 Cubs, 3 Scouts and 3 adults (leaders or parents!) and they faced many challenges..

The Assistant District Commissioner's planned the events and the Explorers supported by running them.  More photos can be seen at:

1st place - 139 points 3rd Banstead
2nd place - 137 points 1st Walton on the Hill 'Hawks'
3rd place - 134 points 1st Nork
4th place - 122 points 1st Tattenhams
5th place - 121 points 7th Banstead
6th place - 103 points 1st Walton on the Hill 'Cobras'

 

District AGM

 

Leaders from every group in Banstead District joined together at Park Farm on June 16th to celebrate another year of successful scouting.  Deputy Mayor, Cllr Jill Bray joined us as did several members of the County Scout team.    Pam Hickman presented many leaders with awards denoting the great quality of their leadership.  A number of awards were also made for length of service.

Family Camp Fun!

 

3rd Banstead recently held their 2nd family camp at the district campsite, Park Farm, in Banstead.  Nearly 200 people camped for the weekend which also contained the Group's AGM.  Climbing, abseiling, archery, shooting and games were all on offer as well as a range of other activities.  The weekend was a real triumph as the various ages worked and played together!

St George's Day Parade 2009

The annual St George's Day Parade was held in Banstead High Street again this year.  All groups were represented and the parade was led by 1st Woodmansterne.  About 400 young people and their families gathered to renew their promise to do their duty to God and the Queen.  Deputy Mayor Cllr Nick Harrison and Rev Damien Miles also renewed their promise from their Scouting days.
