Banstead District Starts a Network!

Following rule changes in early in 2007, it became possible for each District to have their own Network Scout Unit.  Network is aimed at young men and women aged between 18-25.  They may well be leaders in a section or just want to continue in the Scout Movement.  They can continue working towards their Queen's Scout Award and their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. 

The first official meeting was on 6^th June where the position of Treasurer, Chairman and Secretary were agreed.  One of the unique aspects of a Network is that many of its members might be away at University for a lot of the time and so its structure is very flexible.  Four of the six founder members headed off to University in the autumn but, keen to meet before they went, a further planning session was held in the local pub!

Network Scouts has the potential to be an exciting and useful section in Scouting and the community with most being at the age of driving and also being adults.  Plans for the future development of the unit are under way and an exciting programme is being created!
